Forge work standout, thumb wears first

I do forge work most weekends and burned through the cuff seams on my old welding gloves because they were only rated to 500. These handle the hot tongs coming out of the forge without complaint. Short cuff actually helps because I'm working at the anvil with hammer in one hand and tongs in the other, not overhead. The 932 rating is the real reason I bought them and it's held up. Knocked one star because the thumb crease has started to show wear faster than the rest of the glove, but I think that's just where I grip the tongs.

Ooni Pro pizza turning made simple

Have an Ooni Pro that runs above 800 degrees in the dome. My silicone pair stopped being useful around 600. These let me reach in with a turning peel and rotate a pizza without my fingertips screaming. The short cuff keeps me from snagging on the door opening. First time I've felt confident handling something this hot.

Tack welding sweet spot

Use these for tack work and fitup on my MIG setup. The short cuff means I can flip my wrist and twist into corners that my 14-inch gauntlet wouldn't let me reach. Heat resistance is way more than I need for MIG but I bought them mainly for the dexterity. The leather feels broken in already after a couple sessions.

Cast iron camp cooking, stiff at first

I do dutch oven cooking over an open campfire two or three weekends a month. Lid lifters work fine but I still need to grab the handle and reposition. These let me grab cast iron straight out of the coals without thinking. The brown color hides soot which is a small win after a weekend in the woods. Took the better part of a weekend to break in though, they're stiff out of the box and I had a couple sessions where my grip felt awkward.

Glassblowing studio assistant pair

I assist at a glass studio on weekends and we needed a pair for handling tools that get parked near the glory hole. The 932 rating gives me confidence picking up jacks and punties that have been sitting close to the heat. Short cuff doesn't get in the way of pulling glass off a punty. Glad to have these on the bench.

Stove and fireplace duty

I burn wood through winter, both in a wood stove and an open fireplace. These have replaced my old leather work gloves which were getting crispy from grabbing the door handle on the stove. The short cuff doesn't catch on the door but the leather is thick enough that the radiant heat doesn't transfer to my hand.

Heat treat shop daily wear

I do small-batch heat treat work in a back shop. Pulling parts out of a kiln at quench temperature is brutal on cheap gloves. These handle it without scorching the palm. The reinforced areas hold up to dropping a hot part on the bench accidentally. Short cuff suits the bench-oriented work I do.

Backyard pizza party reliable

Wood fired pizza oven in the backyard, two or three pizzas every Saturday in summer. These let my wife and I both work the oven without burning. Short cuff makes them less bulky than the big silicone gloves we used to use. The brown color matches the rustic vibe of the oven setup which is silly to mention but it's true.

Want a longer cuff option

Quality is great, heat resistance is real, the leather feels well built. But the short cuff doesn't cover my forearm enough for the stick welding I do, and I ended up with a spatter mark on my arm twice in one session. Bought the wrong style for my work I think. These would be perfect for someone doing bench work or fitup, just not stick welding overhead like I do. Sizing was fine.
